Information: The Pseudomonas Genetic
Stock Center is a collection of strains derived from the prototrophic Pseudomonas
aeruginosa strain PAO1. Originally created and housed at Monash University
in Victoria, Australia, selected strains from this collection have been
transferred to the Biotechnology Program at the East Carolina University
School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina, USA. The collections
founder, Dr. Bruce Holloway at Monash University, and its new holder, Dr.
Paul V. Phibbs at East Carolina University, have overseen this transition.
The site also houses a collection of PAO-specific bacteriophages and a cosmid
library derived at Monash from the prototrophic strain PAO1293. With the help
of the World Wide Web we are now able to let you tour the collection from the
comfort of your personal computer. In this site, you can: 1.
Search the strain database by strain number or
genotype. 2.
View a listing of transducing phages available
from this site. 3.
Search a database of cosmids known to complement
certain genetic markers. 4.
Search a database of Genetic Markers adapted from
Dr. Bruce Holloway's latest mapping paper (see instructions for complete
reference) and use your results to search the strain and/or cosmid database. 5.
Request
that a specific strain, phage, or cosmid be shipped to your laboratory. 6.
Communicate with the curator of the collection at East
Carolina University to get more information. For further information
on using this site, see the Instruction pages. Paul V. Phibbs, Ph.D. |
